Is Xiaomi Mix Mix 2 worth buying?
Xiaomi is known for affordability but that doesn’t mean the company takes shortcuts when it comes to design and performance. Let’s take a look at their newest phone, Mi Mix 2 and see how it holds up and if it’s worth buying.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC which is among the fastest and most powerful processors currently in the market. This phone also packs 6GB of RAM and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB internal storage, depending on what you choose to buy.
This phone is capable of handling pretty much anything you can throw at it, from graphics-demanding games to heavy video editing and camera apps. Moreover, MIMU software does a great job managing memory,
so you’ll rarely ever see the device slow down. The Mi Mix 2 has a 3400mAh battery. the smartphone easily lasting over 1.5 days of medium to heavy usage. With light use, the Mi Mix 2 could take you from the start of one day to the end of the next. The MIMU software goes some way to conserve the Mi Mix 2’s battery life. The 3400mAh battery juices up fast thanks to Quick Charge 3.0.
Its dual speakers mounted at the bottom are loud and clear and you will certainly enjoy watching videos, or listening to your favorite playlist.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is all about that bezel-less screen, therefore, there’s no room for a headphone jack but Xiaomi has got you covered. You get a USB Type-C port at the bottom for charging, data transfers, and audio. A Type-C-to-3.5mm adapter is bundled with the phone, so in a sense you DO have a headphone jack.
A lot of smartphones claim to be ‘all screen’ but the Mi Mix 2 is most definitely the one that has come closest to making this true. This phone has ultra thin bezels and it’s the big selling point of this phone.
A 5.99-inch 18:9 screen on the Mi Mix 2, makes the smartphone a lot easier to handle than the rest of the 6.5+ inch phones. The 1080×2160-pixel display (FHD+), has features like Sunlight Display and Reading, and remains impressive even under a lot of sunlight.
The Mi Mix 2 has a 12-megapixel rear camera with 4-axis optical image stabilization and the ability to record 4K video at 30fps. You also get a slow-motion mode that can record at 120 frames per second, but is limited to 720p resolution. The front camera has a 5-megapixel sensor.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 feels undeniably like a premium device, with an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy frame, glossy ceramic back-plate and 18k gold around the camera lens.
A really nice, premium feel is what you get holding this phone in your hands.
Xiaomi has release one success after another over the past 12-18 months, and the company looks set to dethrone his big competitors. The phone has an extraordinary design, a great display, fantastic battery life, and excellent performance. At this price point (400-520€) it’s a phone that is definitely worth buying if you are in the 99% of the users. If you are in the 1% and you NEED your phone to have professional camera, then you might want to look at a different phone, but be prepared to pay for much more.
